Derek Acorah Paranormal Eygpt Starts Tuesday 4th September 10pm Living TV |
|
Brand new to LIVING this week is an exclusive show which blends historical and paranormal investigation as it looks at some of the great mysteries shrouding Egypt’s most famous leaders and ancient locations. Paranormal Egypt sees renowned medium Derek Acorah and acclaimed historian Tessa Dunlop join forces and delve into a world full of intrigue and secrets, often uncovering stories which will send shockwaves through both the historical and Egyptian communities.
By looking at one of the most ancient and fascinating cultures in the world, and with the help of some of the leading international authorities on Egyptian history – including Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr Zahi Hawass – this show blows some of the oldest conspiracy theories held about Egypt wide open. Taking centre stage together, Derek and Tessa visit such legendary locations as The Valley of Kings, the tomb of Tutankhamen, the pyramids and the Sphinx as they look at mysterious murders and explore the mythology of the country. The pair also gain access to the mummy of Queen Hatshepsut, the famous female Pharaoh, weeks before the rest of the world’s press.
In this week’s sensational series premiere, the team investigate the death of one of the most famous Egyptian’s of all time: Ramses III. Amid the breathtaking, arid landscape, Tessa and Derek look into a scandalous palace plot to kill the ruler as they try to lay bare the story behind the demise of the last great pharoah. An investigative show which promises both shocking and absorbing disclosures, Paranormal Egypt starts exclusively on LIVING Tuesday 4th September 10pm. |

Does Dr Who |
|
In
an interview with the Manchester Evening News,
the silver-haired, spook-hunting blingmeister
revealed: "I've just filmed Doctor Who.
It's a bit of a mickey-take. The Doctor finds
that spirits and ghosts have invaded the whole
of the galaxy, so he gets me along to see
what we can do about it. It's only a small
part, but there's a bit of fun to it. I'm
there saying, 'I might as well go now, they're
all out there and I can't do anything about
them. I'm redundant!'"Link

TV
medium possessed by town’s old haunts |
TV medium Derek Acorah signs autographs for
fans and townspeople with spooky tales during
his production company's visit to Devizes on
Tuesday (18314/13)
TV medium Derek Acorah collapsed after claiming
he was possessed by an evil spirit when he came
to Devizes on a ghost hunt. The Living
TV expert, along with former EastEnder Daniella
Westbrook, was filming Ghost Towns for the
channel in the town on Tuesday when he visited
blacksmith John Girvan's forge at Lower Wharf.Mr Acorah
and Cash in the Attic presenter Angus Purden
had been invited to investigate a presence
Mr Girvan had been aware of for some time.Mr Girvan,
who runs ghost walks for tourists around the
town, said: "As soon as Derek came in,
he said he was aware of someone. He went to
the cell door that originally came from Devizes
Prison."He said
he could see legs and feet in the doorway
but nothing about them. He explained there
was a calming presence in there holding it
back and I told him about the crucifix I had
found bricked up in the wall of the forge."He took
it out and he became possessed. It was terrifying.
He was shouting as though arguing with someone.
Then he gasped and keeled over. A member of
the crew caught him before he hit the floor
and held him there until he regained consciousness."I was
speechless. When he came round he said the
cross should go back in the wall."Just
as they were finishing filming, there was
an enormous crash from somewhere around."That was far
from the only ghostly encounter for the TV
crew. They saw the ghost of a young girl at
the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust's museum at
the Wharf.Mr Acorah,
Miss Westbrook, museum co-ordinator Maureen
Crossley and volunteer helper David Bartlett
all witnessed the appearance of the ghostly
female face.Mrs Crossley,
who has worked at the canal centre for six
months, said it manifested itself as a glowing
light which evolved into the face of a woman
wearing a bonnet.She said:
"We didn't know what to expect but it
wasn't anything like this."Danniella
was delighted. She said she had never seen
a ghost before."Mr Acorah
believes the ghost's name is Victoria and
she was 19 years old when she died. The film crew
spent a day in the town. A huge Ghost Truck
stood parked in the Market Place, with an
invitation to all to come and talk about their
ghostly encounters.By Tuesday
evening, there were huge crowds of local people,
braving the drizzle and strong winds, outside
the pantechnicon, possibly as much to see
former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook
as to tell of psychic experiences, but assistant
producer Sue Venables said the team was very
pleased with the stories they had received. One of those
who came to tell her tale was Jenni Harrison,
from Roundway Gardens, who helps out at the
Upstairs Downstairs antique centre in the
Market Place.She told the
team that she and others had smelt tobacco
smoke, as though from a pipe, in the building
and, despite checking the whole place had
not been able to find a source for the smell.Mrs Harrison
said: "We have come in in the mornings
to find pictures lying flat on the floor not
broken, as if they had fallen off, but placed
on the floor. We have also found dirt on window
sills that had just been cleaned."The building
was formerly a pub called the White Swan and
Mrs Harrison thinks the ghost may be a former
regular who still likes to enjoy a quiet sit
down and a smoke.The 19-strong
production team were staying at the Bear Hotel
where one of the investigations took place
in the Cellar Bar, the venue for Jazz at the
Bear every weekend.Knowing that
barman Adrian Elmer had a psychic talent,
proprietor Andrew McLachlan asked him to accompany
the team to the cellar.Mr Elmer did
not let him down and located the ghost of
an 18th century cellarman who died of a heart
attack.Mr Aconah
discovered the man was seeking his wife Mabel
and, after the spirit entered Mr Elmer's body,
Mr Aconah was able to release the spirit to
return to his wife.Mr Acorah
was delighted with the input from the residents
of Devizes, helping him to open out the haunted
house format of previous series with more
public participation.He said: "The
whole team is very excited about what we have
found here. The contribution by ordinary members
of the public by way of offering psychic energies
has been superb."I hope
they have not been too shocked by what they
have seen. Devizes folk are very friendly
people." By

Oswestry's
Ghostly Connections Attract TV Ghostbuster |
The Medium
Derek Acorah of Living TV's Most Haunted fame
will be casting his psychic eye over the town
of Oswestry this month as part of a new TV
series.Accommpanied
by Angus Purden and former Eastenders star
Daniella Westbrook, Derek Acorah is taking
his paranormal investigations around the Country
in search of the most intriguing and often
chilling stories as told by local residents
and historians.Having visited
Shrewsbury in September, it is now the turn
of Oswestry with Derek and his 'ghost busting'
team visiting the town on November 17th &
18th to investigate some of the town's most
notorious buildings, famed for decades of
spooky goings on.Commenting
on the new series, Kerry Masters of Living
TV said, "This new series will offer
elements that other programmes have never
touched on with ordinary members of the public
taking a starring role. This exciting new
project gives paranormal fans a once in a
lifetime chance to join Derek in an investigation
where Derek will not only 'read' the town
but will call on local historians and experts
to help discover the history of the town". Oswestry
has recently been celebrating its ghostly
connections with a series of Guided Ghostly
Tours, some of which resulted in some unexpected
surprises.

Ghosts
On Parade |
 |
Whilst filming in Shrewsbury this month a
TV crew certainly got more that they bargained
for. Or did they?Medium
Derek Acorah of UK Living's 'Most Haunted'
fame and his film crew were in the town to
search out paranormal activity, as part of
a new series called Ghost Towns.Filming
took place at the Parade Shopping Centre in
Shrewsbury, when doors started slamming and
items on the shelves started to move! The
Parade was developed when the Royal Shrewsbury
Infirmary (built in 1830) was closed and converted
into 30 independent shops. It is suggested
that the Ghost is that of a former Matron
who still insists on doors being closed, and
that everything has its place - even if the
shop owners have a different view. Customers
have been known to arrive and then have the
shop door closed on them before they can enter
- hardly the Shropshire welcome they were
expecting.The
spirit of the Parade's roaming matron was
picked up on by Derek Acorah, along with a
witches den and the presence of a 'bad man'
in nearby Pengwern Books.The
series on Ghost Towns which will include Shrewsbury's
Ghostly secrets starts on November 7th for
eight weeks
