Most
Haunted Series Nine : Haunted Happenings at Brougham Hall
GHOSTLY
goings on at a country house in Cumbria have been captured on
camera by TV’s Most Haunted with the help of a Carlisle
medium.
Presenter
Yvette Fielding travelled to Brougham Hall, Penrith, with resident
medium David Wells and parapsychologist Ciaran O’Keeffe
to investigate claims made by Neil Harrison, manager of the Old
Smokehouse at Brougham Hall.
Mr Harrison
contacted Most Haunted after glasses smashed, taps were turned
mysteriously on and ghosts appeared.
Psychic
James Griffiths followed up the claims in June.
The Most
Haunted crew invited local spiritualist medium Martin Smith, from
Sandsfield Park, Carlisle, to join them last Tuesday for a night
at the property.
Martin,
a medium for two years, said: “I was very excited and I
can say there was some spectacular phenomena on the night.
“We
finished around three in the morning. David and I were purposely
not told anything about the history of the place.
“I
deliberately didn’t want to know anything so anything I
said would be honest communications and not my memory coming out.”
Martin
and the crew carried out vigils in some of the darkest corners
of the property.
He said:
“Imagine the feeling you get when you walk in the dark and
multiply it by 10.”
It was
the first time Martin had teamed up with the Most Haunted team.
He said:
“It was a great honour to be asked to work with Most Haunted.
“It
will be interesting to see the final cut.”
Martin
has been told the series nine episode is expected to be screened
on UK Living in the new year.
Old Smokehouse
manager Neil Harrison said: “I found when I started working
here about two years ago that I’d think I’d see something
or hear noises, see a flash or hear a loud bang.
“One
morning when I returned to one of the units the tap was on full
blast. There was nobody else about.”
Psychic
James Griffiths claims he saw glasses fly off shelves, a table
balancing itself on one leg, as well as feeling the presence of
warring Scottish and English soldiers and Roman troops.
He also
says he saw the spirit of a girl who died in the historic house
and whose skull is rumoured to be concreted into one of the remaining
fireplaces.
Most Haunted
has previously asked owners of Dalston Hall Hotel, near Carlisle,
if they can film there.
Room four
at the hotel is notorious for its ghost – a lady called
Catherine.
Muncaster
Castle in west Cumbria is said to be one of the most haunted places
in Britain.
