A Lancashire farm is diversifying away from its traditional tourist offerings with the addition of a totally terrifying horror attraction for summer 2008. Hawkshaw Farm Park, minutes from the M6 junction 31, has partnered with AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions www.atmosfearuk.com – the UK leaders in theatrical fear and scary entertainment, to create the UK’s first outdoor summer scare attraction ‘HEX in the Harvest’ which opens in July.
Amanda Dowson, owner of Hawkshaw Farm, is looking forward to the opening of the attraction; she said "Over the past few years it has become increasingly apparent that farms must diversify in order to support their traditional roles. We hope that by combining our existing day time maize maze with the expertise and professionalism of AtmosFEAR! we can together create a quality family attraction and a bring a buzz back to the area."
The six acre outdoor tourist attraction will be a live action night time interactive experience set inside maize cornfields. Visitors will navigate their way along 750 meters of pitch black pathways in groups of ten, armed only with a handheld torch… As they explore the maze they will encounter professional live actors and special effects including a 10 foot ‘stalkaround’ monster and a chainsaw wielding witch in a forty minute fright fest which will leave them screaming for more!
Set against the backdrop of nearby Pendle Hill, HEX in the Harvest will bring visitors to the limits of fear! Storytelling, movie style effects and immersive live action will combine to bring a tale of terror to life in four dimensions.
For the last two months AtmosFEAR! imagineers have been developing storylines, characters and concepts to bring the corn maze vividly to life. During the show visitors will endure a terrifying journey into the heart of the maze where they will encounter the revenants of a long forgotten carnival which disappeared into the creepy corn over a century ago; the local tale of the Pendle Witches is central to the plot, with Alice Nutter as the main protagonist.

AtmosFEAR!’s Creative Producer Jason Karl, former co-presenter of LIVING tv’s ‘Most Haunted’ said “HEX in the Harvest is the UK’s first ever outdoor scare attraction, it’s a little like being in a horror film, where you are the victim! These type of shows are traditionally associated with the Halloween season in Britain, but in America they operate all year round. Our ‘Scream Team’ have been creating this kind of show for several years, but this is by far the largest location we have worked in, the show is suitable for all ages, but children under ten must be accompanied by an adult!”
The ‘scare’ industry is relatively new to the UK, but is already established across the pond in the USA where there are over 1200 temporary and permanent attractions similar to HEX in the Harvest; the industry generates between three and five hundred million dollars each year. AtmosFEAR! is uniquely placed to produce these kind of interactive shows with 15 years experience producing haunted entertainment at venues across the country. Paranormal purveyors of scariness Yvette Fielding and Karl Beattie will launch a new TV phenomenon on Monday 9th June 2008 - The Paranormal Channel. The Channel will first broadcast from 18:00 hours on 9th June and show a petrifying mix of original programming shot on location, exclusive re-runs of British science-fiction author, inventor and futurist Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious World, through to sci-fi and horror movies.
The Paranormal Channel is the brainchild of Fielding and Beattie, with a high proportion of the original programming being made by their successful Manchester-based production company, Antix.
Executive Producer and face of The Paranormal Channel Yvette Fielding says: "Karl and I have worked towards launching this channel for many years. Our Most Haunted devotees have told us in person and online, that they've always wanted a dedicated channel for all things paranormal. From ghosts, UFOs, aliens, mythical monsters to doppelgangers and poltergeists, The Paranormal Channel will cover every possible phenomenon."
Fellow Executive Producer and Presenter Karl Beattie adds, "The Paranormal Channel is a light look at the dark side: we'll use drama, documentaries and even comedy to explore anything and everything that is unexplained. But viewers shouldn't underestimate the scariness rating: The Paranormal Channel will take them to unparalleled heights of fear -they'll be scared witless."
Original and interactive programming includes "Whines and Spirits", which will take viewers on a hunt for the most haunted pub in Britain, with Beattie as chief ghost hunter, giving them the casting vote for the winner. Viewers will be invited to submit ten minute VTs of their paranormal experiences, while budding and fearless-film-makers encouraged to create and air their own scary movies on the Channel. And "Three Screaming Banshees" will follow the paranormal perils of Fielding, Cath Howe and Lesley Smith up and down the country in a less-than-luxurious camper van; as dictated by a controlling, ghoulish and ghastly voice emanating from a 1960's reel-to-reel tape recorder.
Major sponsorship deals for The Paranormal Channel are in the final stages, and further details will be published once confirmed. Although, says Beattie, additional sponsorship opportunities will always be open for discussion.
So far, celebrity presenters include Paul Ross who will be telling the scariest-ever stories before bedtime in "Big Black Book of Horror", and viewers can also expect to see many famous - and terrified - faces being taken through their paranormal paces over the coming months. Occasionally, the channel will feature guest mediums.
Beattie concludes: "We're formidably taking the paranormal into unchartered territory, but equally, in close collaboration with our industry regulator Ofcom. So is there something out there? You bet. Tune in 9th June."

MOST Haunted's Yvette Fielding admits putting together the Paranormal Channel is the scariest thing she has ever done - and that's saying something.
The telly star and her producer husband Karl Beattie sank over £1 million of their own dosh into the new venture, which kicks off tonight on Sky.
Yvette said: "It's a bit more terrifying than doing the pilot of Most Haunted - which we put our life savings into. It's a very nervous step to take and a big risk, but I think it's going to be worth taking it."
The pair promise that the channel will have its fair share of fun amid the terror.
"We've bought all the series of Arthur C. Clarke, which people of my age and older will remember as kids and teenagers, Strange But True with Michael Aspel and lots of documentaries about UFOs, alien abduction and a drama called The Chosen.
"And then Antix Productions are making a show called Whines And Spirits, where Karl goes round Britain looking for the most haunted pub with a guest ghost investigator - a celebrity.
"We've also made a programme called Paul Ross' Big Black Book Of Horror, where Paul reads ghost stories to us every night. That's quite spooky.
"Then new for the autumn is Three Screaming Banshees, an entertainment programme. We travel the country in a camper van, like Charlie's Angels, in search of very horrible, haunted, scary places."

Television paranormal guru Yvette Fielding is launching her own channel, she has revealed.
The former Blue Peter presenter - who has spent recent years hunting ghosts for Living TV's Most Haunted - said the channel would begin broadcasting on Sky on June 9.
The Paranormal Channel is operated by Monster Pictures Limited, a company owned by Fielding and Karl Beattie, her cameraman husband.
"We are putting on air, on June 9, the very first paranormal channel in Great Britain," said Fielding, speaking on last night's Paul O'Grady Show.
"[It will be] available on Sky [and feature] anything from Big Foot, the Loch Ness Monster, UFOs, the Bermuda Triangle, through to ghosts. We are putting it on 24 hours a day, so just tune in and enjoy."
Paul Mady, who has been developing the channel for Monster Pictures, said it was looking for carriage on other TV services, though talks are at an early stage. Initially it will be available as a free-to-view channel through satellite only.
Mady told Digital Spy that the channel would feature original programming from Fielding's Antix Productions as well as recent and older archive material.
"It is very much about covering the whole genre, independent of what they are doing for LivingTV and ITV," he said. The channel will initially air blocks of repeated programming.
"As we build up a following we will increase the hours of new programming and increase original programming."
The channel's position in the Sky electronic programme guide - which it expects to be in the entertainment section - will be confirmed in May.

Most Haunted Live - Turin :: San Pietro :: Night 1
The Most Haunted team begin their exploration of Turin with a visit to a de-consecrated cemetery and church - once the final resting place of both the rich and poor, the sacred and the damned (aristocrats shared space with suicides and executed 'criminals' ).
San Pietro is reputed to be haunted by the sad spirit of Russian Princess Barbara Beloselski, who lived a short life - dying at just 28.
She is said to enjoy the company of men, and goes in search of male company before leading her suitors to her grave, revealing herself as a ghost and disappearing. Her body was moved to San Pietro in 1830, and she has since been haunting the area, roaming around with a black veil covering her face, looking for her next male companion.
Now a very eerie depository for books, manuscripts and magazines - scene of many ghostly sightings but most importantly, is said to be the location of black mass rituals within living memory - will the team put substance to these dark shadows?
With regards the number of enquiries we have received about Most Haunted Series 9 on DVD we contacted Paul Diment of CONTENDER ENTERTAINMENT who produce the Most Haunted DVDs. Here is the reply . . .
"Unfortunately our deal with Virgin Media to distribute the Most Haunted range has now ended, and we will not be producing any more volumes.
We have also deleted the range, so once they have sold out that will be it, until Virgin Media can strike up a deal with another entertainment company."

Ghost Hunting With…I’m A Celebrity is brand new and exclusive to ITV2, Wednesday 26 March at 9pm.
The I’m A Celeb gang are no strangers to fear, but how will their nerves hold up as they set off to face a selection of spooky locations? First up is The Black Country Living Museum; a collection of local buildings gathered together and rebuilt brick by brick. The team’s first challenge is to visit The Bottle and Glass pub. Built in 1776 the building is said to be haunted by a ghost called Reynolds. It is believed that Reynolds actually murdered a man called Isaac and is now very unappreciative of any male company in his presence – let’s see how he reacts when Dean, Matt and Christopher enter his humble abode.
The group is then separated and blindfolded as they are led to different locations throughout the museum. Dean is the first celeb to spend some time alone and heads for the chemist, Christopher and Cerys set off for the hardware store, and Matt and Emma take residence at the chocolate shop to seek out some friendly children ghosts.
The second location of the evening is the Cast Iron House which was built in 1925. The house is said to be haunted by the ghost of a man named Jack and it is here the group take part in a planchett session.
The last location of the evening is the Dudley Guest Hospital which was formerly a blind asylum. Here a lady is said to have walked through walls, the squeaking of trolley wheels can be heard, as well as whistling and sightings of strange lights. Here the team conduct a séance in one of the disused operating theatres, after which they split up and explore the eerie nooks and crannies of the building.

Despite repeated attempts at contact by their writers, advertisers, subscribers and the media, communication from the Paranormal Magazine office has been non-existent for the last 6 weeks. Already concerned by the lack of contact, when the MySpace's of editor/creator Allison Jordan and Paranormal Magazine were shut down, along with the main Paranormal Magazine website, alarm bells started to ring.
Today, it has been confirmed that Paranormal Magazine has indeed been closed down. The magazine allegedly owes massive amounts to creditors and is unable to continue in it's current form. It has been rumoured that monies taken for subscriptions are unlikely to be repaid - although it is believed that attempts are being made by the administrators put in charge of the business to make restitution where they can.

Most Haunted is back with a brand new series investigating infamously haunted locations all over the UK. The Most Haunted team led by presenter Yvette Fielding and her cameraman husband Karl Beattie, now features respected mediums Johnnie Fiori, Brian Shepherd and Barrie John, exploring eerie locations every Tuesday at 9pm from February 19th.
During the run of the 10th series, the 25th Most Haunted Live (end of March) takes a trip to Turin - city of the devil - in a spectacular 5 night live event.

Join head investigator Yvette Fielding, spiritual medium David Wells, and the rest of the 'Most Haunted Live' team for the highlights of their 7-hour investigation. Armed with night-vision cameras, thermal-imaging devices and other paranormal investigation tools, the team will perform a thorough investigation of the mansion and attempt to communicate with the paranormal.
Their investigation will lead them into the basement, through secret passageways, and to the mysterious séance room where Sarah Winchester sought help from spirits to guide her vision to build what is now a 161-room estate. The architecture of the house - doors that lead to steep drop-offs; stairs that lead to ceilings; and a skylight built inside the house – will add an element of surprise.
Coronation Street actress Kym Ryder was reduced to tears during the latest instalment of Ghost Hunting With..., set to air in March.
The brunette was among cast members past and present taking part in the show, including Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Katherine Kelly (Becky Granger), Tupele Dorgu (Kelly Crabtree) and Wendi Peters (Cilla Battersby-Brown).
"Kym got very emotional during some of the filming," a source told the Daily Star Sunday.
"She said she saw a ghost and that really shook her up. It was quite intense."
"The filming of the Vera death scenes was in everyone's memory and I don't think she could get it out of her head."
According to the insider, Ryder became convinced she'd seen something go bump in the night during her visit to a spooky location on the Isle of Man.
It's not the first time the cast of Corrie have gone looking for ghosts.
Simon Gregson, who plays Ryder's on-screen lover Steve, was a guest on a special edition of Most Haunted, also hosted by Yvette Fielding.
Ironically, Fielding once auditioned for a role on the soap, vying to play Rita Sullivan's (Barbara Knox) daughter.

Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe and Billy Roberts have combined their individual professional efforts and written a book entitled THE GREAT SPIRITUAL CLASH! - in the shops from July 2008. Ciaran O'Keeffe, as many people will know, appears regularly on the popular television programme MOST HAUNTED. Although Ciaran and Billy come from very different backgrounds, the book is a confrontational project that culminates into a 'meeting of minds', and is a debate on all aspects of the paranormal. They have also created an extremely unusual stage show, based primarily on the book, and this will first be staged in the West End of London and then onto Broadway in New York. They also begin filming this for a new television programme to be shown in the UK towards the end of 2008.
As I am sure you are all aware from a previous post David Well's is not taking part in Series 10.
We have heard a number of theories to his replacement, the most recent and feasable is that it is Barrie John. Barrie was the national award winner for Best Up And Coming Medium 2007 at the Spiritual Connextions Awards in October 2007 and has had a lot of experience in the paranormal investigation field.
We have contacted Barrie and unfortunately he could not comment which we fully appreciate, take this as positive or negative.

The Happy Mondays have signed to appear on an episode of ITV2's Ghost Hunting With... series.
Four members of the iconic Manchester band – lead singer Shaun Ryder, percussionist Bez, drummer Gary Whelan and backing vocalist Julie Gordon – will hold a seance at a Victorian jail in Lincoln, before tracking down spectres at a Nottingham manor house that was used for sex parties in Elizabethan times.
Pop groups Girls Aloud and McFly, several members of the Emmerdale cast and a group of Radio 1 DJs have previously appeared on the show, which is hosted by former Blue Peter presenter Yvette Fielding.
Bez, the winner of Celebrity Big Brother in 2005, said: "You've got to watch this one, man - especially if you don't believe in 'em. Yvette's not kidding when she says that she doesn't know who's gonna be more scared - the ghosts or us. You decide!"

There are rumours of Series 10 line up on numerous sites including the LIVING TV Forum starting on 29th January 2008.
Reliable sources tell me these are NOT genuine and Series 10 is still being filmed.

"Well, well, well...another 'Phil this, Phil that rumour' ...lol If you are talking about the RAF COLEBY GRANGE episodes (12 & 13 of series 10) then I can tell you all now that it is just that: A RUMOUR.
RAF Coleby Grange is not too far from where I used to live in Lincolnshire and believe me it is just 1 building; a small, derelict control tower. It would not acommodate a group of 4 let alone a dozen MH crew...and certainly NOT for a week long invest.
Apparently MH have also done the RED LION pub in Pontefract - I was only there the other week and trust me, you would not want to really do an overnighter in there, nor did we hear of any mention on the team doing it.

Hello Angels.
I thought it fitting to announce on my official fansite and to all my lovely fans that the rumours of my departure from Most Haunted are in fact true. I have had the most wonderful time working with the team over the past few years but the travelling and the energy the show takes out of me was taking a toll on my health.
Sometimes in life we have to make some tough choices and this has been one of them, I will miss everyone on the show and wish Most Haunted continued success.
Moving forward I am concentrating on my writing and most exciting of all, getting out and about doing workshops and lectures throughout this country and others.
I am sure of your support and I am grateful for it.

For the first time in the history of the show, Most Haunted has ventured to America, where the team has investigated what is widely regarded as one of America’s most haunted places: the world’s first penitentiary, Eastern State in Philadelphia.
Presenters Yvette Fielding and Paul Ross, medium David Wells and historian Lesley Smith travel to the prison, which was opened in 1829 and abandoned in 1971. Eastern State Penitentiary was part of a controversial movement which sought to rehabilitate prisoners using solitary confinement and hard labour. It is widely believed that its brutal regime caused extensive mental illness among its inmates.
The prison housed many famous criminals, including bank robber Willie Sutton and gangster Al Capone, and is renowned for the eerie experiences and mysterious visions that both staff and inmates experience there.
